Congratulations Mary Russell

Tonight, pupils at Mary Russell Secondary, and their teachers, were awarded the 2020 Scottish Fair Trade Campaign Award by the Scottish Fair Trade Forum for the work they’ve done with us at Rainbow Turtle and in their community to spread the word of Fair Trade and sustainability. Well done Mary Russell!

The video below shows just some of what they’ve done so far, and you can get a sneak peak at their next project with Rainbow Turtle here!

Paisley Daily Express Article on our Christmas Window

Thanks to the Paisley Daily Express on the 2nd of December, a lovely article was written by Alison Rennie about our delightful Christmas window, designed and installed by the students of Mary Russell School in Paisley. Come and see our shop window and buy something different for the special person in your life, knowing that your purchase supports producers and their families in developing countries.

Thanks Mary Russell School!

This week we had the fantastic pupils from Mary Russell School in our shop to install a Christmas window for us which they had designed and made themselves (with a bit of help from their lovely art teacher Miss Ferguson) on the theme of sustainability. Just by using things you might find around the house (lampshades, waste paper…) the pupils managed to make a really creative and eye-catching display for us this festive season. We hope you like it as much as we do!

P.S. Keep an eye out in the Paisley Daily Express early next week to see if you spot any familiar snow people…

Mary Russell 50th Anniversary Celebration

We were really pleased to be invited along today to Mary Russell School for a lunch to celebrate their 50th anniversary. We work a lot with Mary Russell, and they’re big supporters of Fair Trade, as Gemma and Lynsay noticed when they sat opposite a Fairtrade mark for their lunch! The food was lovely, but even more exciting was hearing from pupils about the amazing work that the school does now, as well as how special Mary Russell the person, a pioneer of Special Education in the 20th Century, was. Finding a display of pupils’ work on Fair Trade was also a highlight. Thank you to Mary Russell School for inviting us!
